 FR3000-V Tube Drive Reverb Unit

User Manual

FR-3000V Tube Drive Reverb Unit
Arguably the first sound effect ever used, reverb has long been a favorite of musicians and producers alike for adding warmth and life to recordings and performances. A great reverb tone can make you feel like you are "in the room" as you enjoy an artist's recorded performance, or it can bring a dead-sounding club or guitar rig to life by adding space and dimension that previously wasn't there.

Conversely, a bad reverb tone can make you cringe as your ears are assaulted by brittle-as-glass washes of trebly excess. Therein lies the problem with 95% of the 'verbs currently on the market - whether analog or digital, the majority of them just don't sound that good. Truth be told, most of 'em sound just plain BAD, and many are not actually reverb at all but simply slapback delays. In an effort to remedy this issue and bring the timeless tones of classic reverb back to the masses, Guyatone created the Flip Series FR3000V Tube Drive Reverb unit.

The FR3000V is a stand-alone analog reverb unit that offers a multitude of tonal options for a variety of applications. What sets the FR3000V apart from other analog reverb units is its tube compliment and controls. It's a well-known fact that tubes add warmth and dimension to any sound source, and while there are other tube-driven reverbs on the market none of them come equipped with the tube types that are necessary to deliver pure vintage tone.

Each FR3000V unit was Loaded with New Old Stock General Electric 6K6GT, JAN GE 5751, and JAN GE 12AT7WC tubes instead of the inferior current-production tubes used by other manufacturers. These vintage tubes were tested and burned in prior to loading and then tested again in the FR3000V circuit for performance and tone. The difference between these vintage valves and current production tubes is day and night - warm, juicy, three-dimensional tone that simply must be heard to be appreciated. As any purist would tell you, there's just no substitute for the original!

In addition to its NOS tube compliment, each FR3000V featured an Accutronics 4AB3C1B long reverb tank - the industry standard in spring reverbs and the recommended replacement unit for many vintage amplifiers. This 2-spring tank offers a longer reverb trail, allowing for a wider variety of effects. Reverb amount is controlled by the Reverb Level control, which is the equivalent to the Dwell control on other units.

The FR3000V has several other features that help set it apart from the competition. Individual Bass and Treble knobs allow for precise tonal control over the reverb signal allowing for crisp, crystalline slapback to corpulent, rotund walls of sound and everything in between. Individual Level and Master Volume controls allow for a wide variety of saturated reverb tones, giving the user even further sonic options. By manipulating these four controls a virtually unlimited variety of reverb palettes can be attained, from the natural tone a lively room to the monstrous echoes of the largest arena; from traditional bouncy spring sounds to the otherworldly dimension of the largest plates.

To round the package off, the FR3000V includes a Direct Bypass switch that allows for Dry/Reverb mix or Reverb only output signals. Remote bypass is possible using an optional footswitch, and the FR3000V has dual front/rear inputs to allow for mounting in a rack or road case.
