GUYATONE LOOKS TO THE FUTURE Anaheim, CA January 18 - 22
2001 has already proven to be an exciting year for Godlyke Inc., the exclusive North American distributor of Guyatone sound products. This year marked the New Jersey company's third appearance at the Winter NAMM show, the International Music Products Association's annual trade convention. Over 1,200 exhibitors and more than 65,000 registrants packed the colossal Anaheim Convention Center to sneak a peak at the industry's latest gear. The Guyatone exhibit captured the crowd's attention with the premiere of eleven new effect models, an attractive prize giveaway and an even more attractive special guest.
The growing popularity of the Micro Effects Series has prompted the release of a new wave of stomp boxes for those who know that good things come in small packages. For the discerning guitarist, Guyatone introduced the NR-2 Noise Reduction, ME-2 Micro Equalizer, SD-2 Sustainer "D", MD-3 Micro Digital Delay, and PS-3 Phase Shifter. Bassists can look forward to four new, specially voiced Bass Micro Effects, which include the BB-2 Bottom Blaster, BL-2 Bottom Limiter, BE-2 Bottom Equalizer, and BR-2 Bottom Wah Rocker. Also previewed at NAMM were the latest offerings of Flip Series tube-powered effects: the MM-X Metal Monster tube distortion, and the AD-X Analog Delay. All the models previewed will be available through retailers this spring.
However, not everyone who visited was interested in improving their tone. The appearance of international adult entertainment actress and director, Mimi Miyagi, lured scores of fans seeking autographs and pictures with their favorite video vixen. If that wasn't enough excitement, guests were further tempted by the chance to win a Guyatone RTE-3000 Tape Echo, presented by Mimi herself. Not everyone was as lucky as contest winner, Dale Stump of San Diego, California, but all who entered walked away with a smile on their face. The Godlyke booth (which looked more like a party than a trade exhibit most of the time) was sponsored by Jaegermeister, and was fully stocked with promotional Jaeger, Grey Goose Vodka and Gekkeikan Sake party favors, compliments of Rick Zeiler of Sidney Frank Importers.
The four-day convention was punctuated by visits from distinguished professional musicians and Guyatone users eager to check out the new equipment. Among them were Justin Meldal-Johnsen and Roger Manning Jr. (Beck), the Tempesta brothers - Mike (Powerman 5000) and John (Rob Zombie), Marc Tremonti (Creed), guitarists Stevie Salas and Gwyn Ashton, bassist extraordinaire TM Stevens, Pat Pondo (Missing Persons), and producer Joe Baressi (Veruca Salt, Pennywise, Fu Man Chu)... just to name a few.
With the success of Winter NAMM 2001, Godlyke now looks forward to a busy year of bringing these new Guyatone products to the public. Always looking to the future, Godlyke is already planning to outdo themselves for NAMM 2002 - don't miss it!
Godlyke, Inc. is also the exclusive distributor of Maxon and Bixonic sound products. |
